Schneider Electric EcoStruxure IT creates recurring revenue opportunities for Partners and MSP’s
Managed Services Provider Innovation of the Year
EcoStruxure IT, EcoStruxure IT Expert and EcoStruxure IT for Partners are the Industry’s first and only vendor-neutral, Cloud-based Data Centre Management as a Service (DMaaS) architectures.
EcoStruxure™ IT for Partners is an open, cloud-based, multi-tenant platform developed for MSP’s and IT solution providers focused on data centre and distributed IT sites. This secure platform is enabled by EcoStruxure's predictive analytics and will host applications and tools for solution providers to build new, recurring service offerings and business models.
They provide global visibility from anywhere, at any time on any connected device including tablets or smart devices and deliver data-driven insights into critical IT assets, which helps customers mitigate risk and reduce downtime.
Additionally the software allows partners and end-user alike to drive profitability by delivering managed services for data centre power and cooling solutions, allowing users to increase customer intimacy, revenue streams and new business opportunities by providing visibility and insights into their customers' remote and distributed infrastructure.
EcoStruxure IT Expert, for example, provides partners with a multi-tenant monitoring solution for vendor-neutral, secure visibility across multiple customer sites. Add power and cooling monitoring into your service contracts, or simply resell this software as a service to your customers — providing you with predictable revenue and improved operations for customers.
The growth of IoT and edge computing means customers need to manage a growing number of remote sites without dedicated IT staff. EcoStruxure IT Expert allows them to manage these “lights-out” sites efficiently and securely from a single pane of glass.
The first EcoStruxure IT application available is the monitoring application called EcoStruxure™ IT Expert. This application enables IT solution providers to deliver a remote monitoring service empowered with real-time data and proactive recommendations, reducing meantime to repair and improving system availability.
Leveraging big data and intelligent benchmarking from distributed IT environments to the data center, EcoStruxure IT Expert provides a faster and easier way to deliver the services and support required by customers as they grow more dependent on their critical IT infrastructure.
"EcoStruxure IT Expert provides the foundation to give partners visibility into multiple customer sites and develop additional potential revenue streams," said Kim Polvsen, Vice President & General Manager of Digital Services & Data Centre Software, Schneider Electric. "In the near future, we will deliver additional functionality and applications within EcoStruxure IT for Partners, offering our partners additional capabilities to remotely access customer sites and increase efficiency and control, reducing the need for onsite visits."
EcoStruxure IT Expert key benefits include:
• Vendor-neutral and multi-tenant monitoring platform enabling partners to grow their services offer to include power and cooling.
• For customers not under contract, partners can resell this simple to deploy Software as a Service offer for additional recurring revenue.
• Global visibility into their customers' infrastructure – in the cloud or at the edge – with data-driven recommendations to improve performance and efficiency and reduce costs.
• Global view of inventory, alarms, and recommendations to resolve; also with analytics and benchmarking.
As part of Schneider Electric's EcoStruxure architecture, EcoStruxure IT operates on all IoT-enabled physical infrastructure assets like secure power and cooling — including the new Smart-UPS with APC SmartConnect, a cloud-enabled UPS, designed to be fast and cost-effective for deployment in small, distributed environments.
• What tangible impact has your product/solution had on the market and your customers?
To date, 1,400 customers are connected on the EcoStruxure IT platform, managing 140,000 assets. Each day, 300 million data points are captured, helping to modernize how customer data centers are being managed, operated, and maintained.
"IDC views the EcoStruxure family as a transformative platform that changes the core way that datacenters are monitored and managed." Said Jennifer Cooke, Research Director for Data Centre Trends and Strategies at IDC.
With the movement to the cloud going full throttle, customers naturally have lots of questions about which resources make sense to move the cloud, and when. To inform that decision, they need to know what the effect on their remaining infrastructure will be.
Schneider Electric EcoStruxure IT for Partners puts Managed Service Providers in pole position to help customers deal with these events and more. The cloud-based architecture provides actionable intelligence about their customers, allowing partners to assess, monitor, manage, model and plan their customers’ IT facilities.
Here’s how it works:
Customers download a simple software gateway and within minutes it self-discovers all devices on the network. It then feeds data from those devices to the cloud platform maintained by Schneider Electric.
Data from all customers is fed into a data lake, where it’s combined with information from various other customers. This information is not just about data centre infrastructure as Schneider Electric has access to all sorts of data on building infrastructure including energy use, cooling efficiency, and more. By applying artificial intelligence and machine learning tools, informed conclusions can be drawn about the expected performance of various components based on the experiences of other customers included in the data lake.
What’s more, partners receive detailed information about their customer environments, enabling them to provide actionable intelligence to end-users. This allows partners to help customers understand the best way to design their data centres, and the most cost-effective way to plan for growth.
Examples include the cost benefits of moving a given application to the cloud, including what it means for the infrastructure that’s left behind in the data centre, taking into account all the power and cooling implications. In some cases, partners may determine it’s more cost-effective for some applications to remain on-premises – and be able to give the reasoning of exactly why.
Similarly, EcoStruxture IT can help customers identify systems that will soon be out of support and what the ramifications are. For example, some servers running vSphere 5.5 may not be able to run vSphere 6.5. Partners will be able to explain to customers exactly how many servers need to be upgraded, work with them on budgeting, and help right-size the environment, right down to the best racks, PDUs and the like.
In short, EcoStruxure IT allows partners to have more meaningful conversations with their customers. At the same time, the software delivers more pull-through revenue, giving partners the inside track to order any required equipment and software the analysis identifies. Given how quickly EcoStruxure IT can deliver meaningful results, partners will also experience much shorter sales cycles.
EcoStruxure IT is a SaaS model with three purchase options: monthly or annual pricing as well as a one-time assessment. The assessment is a two-week engagement during which EcoStruxture IT gathers data on the customer environment and uses it to provide a report with recommended changes or upgrades. It’s great for giving customers a taste of the offering, or for partners that only want to use it as a way to sell hardware and software together. Alternatively, the monthly and annual packages give partners a recurring revenue stream and a consistent look into customer environments, so they can continually offer advice and guidance.
• What are the major differentiators between your product/solution and those of your primary competitors?
1) EcoStruxure IT, and EcoStruxure IT Expert are the Industry’s first vendor-neutral, Cloud-Based Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) architectures.
2) The cloud-based software uses the power of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Anaytics to gather data from any IoT-enabled data centre infrastructure solution, no matter the brand or Vendor.
3) This becomes even more important when managing distributed edge environments, something that cannot be delivered when utilising traditional on-premise Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) software.
4) To date, it is the only solution of its kind avaialble in the industry and shows why Schneider Electric’s focus on Innovation within the data centre and critical infrastructure industries continues to position them as the market leader.
